Round table “BRICS economic partnership and prospects for a Greater Eurasian Space”

On May 14, 2024 HSE University will be hosting a roundtable discussion "BRICS economic partnership and prospects for a Greater Eurasian Space".

The event will take place in the format of a round table with the aim of preparing recommendations for the leaders of the BRICS countries on Civil BRICS agenda.

Moderator: Professor Vladimir Zuev, Head of Division of the BRICS Expert Council-Russia, Head of Department of Trade Policy at the Institute of Trade Policy, Professor at School of World Economy at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University. 

 

During the meeting, the participants will discuss the following topics:

  • How trade could be better managed within BRICS after the enlargement of the group? A new Focus appear: trade in agricultural goods.
  • While trade demonstrate a high rate of growth, investments lag far behind within BRICS. What can be done to overturn this trend?
  • How to assure a cohesion of Russian interests within the two most important external formats for Russia: in the EAEU and within BRICS?
  • What role Special economic zones could play as instruments to push forward economic cooperation within BRICS.
  • Energy cooperation becomes all the more important for many countries in the world, BRICS including. What is the new role of Atomic energy in the year of Atom.
  • What indicators could be better fit for monitoring BRICS economic cooperation? Looking for proper solutions.
