
HSE Takes Part in BRICS Summit
On July 6–7, 2025, the 17th BRICS Summit took place in Rio de Janeiro. For the first time in the organisation’s history, representatives of civil society from BRICS countries participated. HSE Vice Rector, Head of the BRICS Expert Council–Russia, and Co-Chair of the Russian Chapter the BRICS Civil Forum Victoria Panova attended the meeting of the bloc’s national leaders.

Experts from HSE University took part in the BRICS Academic Forum (FABRICS) held in the capital of Brazil this year. The main theme of the event was to discuss cooperation among countries in the Global South amid geopolitical turbulence and rapid technological change. Academics and experts from BRICS member states and partner nations explored topics such as global healthcare, AI technologies, trade, climate change, and reform of the multilateral global security and governance architecture.

On May 20, 2025, a meeting of the BRICS Civil Council's Working Group on Health titled "BRICS and Building a Global Health Regime" took place at HSE University. The discussions focused on Brazil's proposals for final recommendations to the leaders of the BRICS nations.

BRICS Expert Council-Russia took part in the BRICS Network University International Conference
The Annual BRICS Network University Conference showcased the work of the International Thematic Group (ITG) on Economics, jointly coordinated by HSE University and RUDN University. Valeriia Gorbacheva, Deputy Head of BRICS Expert Council-Russia and Head of Multilateral Strategic Projects Office at HSE University, presented the group's key initiatives and outlined upcoming collaborative projects set for implementation by member institutions by the end of this year within the BRICS Network University (NU) framework.
